About us

About LGA Watch Nigeria

Nigeria's first comprehensive, citizen-powered monitoring system for all 774 Local Government Areas.

Our Mission

To make every naira allocated to Nigeria's 774 local governments traceable, every project visible, and every chairman accountable — powered by citizens, verified by evidence, trusted by all.

The Problem

Nigeria's local government tier receives over ₦387 billion monthly from the Federation Account (FAAC). Despite this enormous public resource, there is no single platform where citizens can see how much their LGA received, verify whether money was spent on visible projects, or hold their chairman accountable with documented evidence.

How It Works

For citizens: Find your LGA, submit reports with evidence, track progress. No account needed.

For journalists: Search verified data, compare LGAs, export FAAC records for research.

For LGA officials: Claim your profile, respond to citizen concerns, demonstrate transparency.

Data Sources

  • FAAC data: Federal Ministry of Finance (finance.gov.ng)
  • Population data: National Bureau of Statistics projections
  • LGA boundaries: OCHA Nigeria Administrative Boundaries
  • Citizen reports: Verified submissions from web, WhatsApp, and email

Open Data Policy
