What is FAAC?

The Federation Account Allocation Committee distributes oil revenue, VAT, and other federal taxes to Nigeria's three tiers of government every month.

Federal Govt → 52.68%
States → 26.72%
Local Govts → 20.60% (shared among 774 LGAs)

Oil-producing states receive an additional 13% derivation fund on top of their standard share.

Supreme Court, July 2024: LGAs must now receive FAAC funds directly — no longer through state governments. Direct disbursements began January 2025.
